Résumé
Après une nuit de repos au champ de tir, Reed quitte le travail et s'arrête dans une épicerie toute la nuit. Alors qu'il repart les deux bras chargés de provisions, un jeune homme s'approche comme s'il connaissait Reed. Il désigne un ami dans une Volkswagen Beetle verte tenant un pistolet sur Reed. Reed laisse tomber les courses, pousse le jeune homme, bondit et tire sur la voiture qui le heurte. L'homme dans la voiture tire sur son ami.
